Orthodontic Treatment with 3M™ Clarity™ Aligners

Invisalign® & Clarity™ Aligners by Solventum

Straighten your teeth without traditional braces. Clear aligners offer a nearly invisible way to achieve the smile you want.

At Shine Orthodontics, we offer both leading clear aligner brands: Invisalign® and Clarity™ Aligners by Solventum. Both systems deliver excellent results. We'll help you choose the option that best fits your needs, goals, and lifestyle.

How Clear Aligners Work

Clear aligners use a series of custom-made, removable trays to gradually shift your teeth into their ideal positions. Each aligner moves your teeth slightly. You wear each set for about one to two weeks before switching to the next in the series.

The aligners are nearly invisible, which means most people won't even notice you're wearing them. You can remove them for eating, brushing, and special occasions. This flexibility makes clear aligners popular with teens and adults who want effective treatment without the look of metal braces.

Clarity™ Aligners by Solventum: A Proven Alternative

Clarity™ Aligners (formerly 3M™ Clarity™ Aligners) are now produced by Solventum. These clear aligners offer the same discreet, effective teeth straightening you expect from leading aligner brands.

Clarity™ Aligners are custom designed to fit your teeth precisely. The system uses advanced materials that provide the right amount of force to move your teeth comfortably and predictably.

Many patients find Clarity™ Aligners to be an excellent, cost-effective alternative to Invisalign® while delivering comparable results.

What makes Clarity™ Aligners effective:

  • Custom fit for your unique smile
  • Advanced multi-layer material designed for optimal tooth movement
  • Removable for eating and cleaning
  • Nearly invisible appearance
  • Proven track record of successful outcomes

Invisalign® Clear Aligners

Invisalign® is the most recognized name in clear aligner treatment, and for good reason. The brand has helped millions of people achieve straighter smiles through innovative aligner technology.

Invisalign® Aligners are made from a proprietary thermoplastic material designed specifically for tooth movement. They're removable, nearly invisible, and custom-made for your teeth.

Choosing Between Clear Aligner Brands

Both Clarity™ Aligners by Solventum and Invisalign® can address common orthodontic concerns:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overbite, underbite, or crossbite
  • General tooth alignment issues

During your consultation, we'll evaluate your specific needs and discuss which clear aligner system makes the most sense for your case. Some factors we consider include the complexity of your tooth movement, your treatment timeline, and your personal preferences.

The Clear Aligner Experience at Shine Orthodontics

Digital Scanning with I-Tero Technology
We use I-Tero digital scanners to capture precise 3D images of your teeth. No goopy impressions or uncomfortable molds. The scanner creates an accurate digital model that ensures your aligners fit perfectly.

Progress Check-Ins
We'll monitor your progress throughout treatment to make sure your teeth are moving as planned. Regular appointments help us keep your treatment on track.

Removable Convenience
Take your aligners out to eat whatever you want. Brush and floss normally. Remove them for photos or special events. Just remember to wear them 20-22 hours per day for the best results.

Clear Aligners vs. Traditional Braces

Many patients wonder whether clear aligners or braces are the better choice. Here's what sets aligners apart:

Appearance: Clear aligners are nearly invisible. Most people won't notice you're straightening your teeth.

Comfort: No metal brackets or wires means fewer mouth irritations. Smooth plastic aligners are gentle on your cheeks and gums.

Flexibility: Remove your aligners for important meetings, dates, or photographs. Eat your favorite foods without restrictions.

Oral Hygiene: Brush and floss normally since aligners come out. No special tools needed to clean around brackets.

That said, traditional braces remain the best option for certain complex cases. We'll recommend the treatment that gives you the best outcome.

Are Clear Aligners Right for You?

Clear aligners work well for many teens and adults. They're especially popular among patients who:

  • Want discreet treatment
  • Have busy social or professional lives
  • Play contact sports or musical instruments
  • Prefer the flexibility to remove their appliance
  • Have mild to moderate alignment concerns

The best way to know if clear aligners are right for you is to schedule a consultation. We'll examine your teeth, discuss your goals, and explain all your options.

Common Questions About Clear Aligners

How long does clear aligner treatment take?

Treatment time varies based on your specific needs. Most patients complete treatment in 12-24 months, though some cases take less time, and others require longer.

Do clear aligners hurt?

You may feel pressure when you start wearing a new set of aligners. This is normal and means your teeth are moving. The discomfort is usually mild and goes away within a day or two.

How often do I need appointments?

Most patients visit us every 10-12 weeks to check progress and receive their next sets of aligners.

What happens if I lose an aligner?

Contact us right away. We'll determine whether you should move to the next aligner or if we need to order a replacement.

Can I eat with my aligners in?

Remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. Food particles can get trapped under the aligners, and hot beverages can warp the plastic.  It is very important to brush before putting your aligners back in to avoid the development of cavities.

How do I clean my aligners?

Rinse them with cool water and brush gently with a soft toothbrush. Avoid hot water, which can distort plastic. Some patients use special aligner cleaning products, though gentle soap and water work fine.
